Disaster
Management and Rehabilitation Unit
........................................................................................................................................................................................
This Unit actively takes part
in saving lives and providing relief during natural disaster
and emergencies. The unit was formed to address the
situations arising from floods, land slides during the past
years and the Asian Tsunami that brought untold hardships to
the people in the areas we are conducting volunteer and
social services. We were able to carry out wide-ranging
relief duties during the post tsunami re-building process in
collaboration with the national and international donor
agencies. As a result of these services we were invited to
represent Sri Lanka at the ‘International Visitor Leadership
Programme (IVLP* - 2008 June – July) organized by the US
Embassy in Sri Lanka. The Unit has members experienced in
both national and international disaster management and
relief duties.
