CAP CHARITY NIGHT

The CRC children of the East who were left destitute after the 30 year long civil war can now anticipate a better future thanks to thousands of sponsors both in Sri Lanka and overseas. The most significant month of the calendar year for these children dawned last month, the month of October. The CAP organisation.

CRC TEACHERS’ TRAINING 

We are dedicated to the quality and development of our educational standards and services provided at the CRCs. Our teaching staffs strive to educate using up to date, practical and the best suited methods whilst adhering to nationally accepted teaching principles.
 

ARUGAM BAY BEACH CLEAN

Arugam Bay is the base harbour for the fishing folk living in the area and the Arugam Bay beachfront is world famous for its beauty and it is considered as one of the best locations in the world for wind-surfing and water-skiing with many tourists visiting yearly.

ERAVUR IS UPGRADED 

The Eravur CRC was opened in 2009 and has been in operation for nearly 02 years. The Centre was successfully established for the educational, cultural and spiritual development of the children of the North Eastern areas who faced tremendous difficulties during the war.

 

CHARITY WARDROBE GOES TO THE NORTH & EAST 

Thank you to everyone who contributed with both toys and clothes this year. Clothes were distributed to the children of Manampitiya, Sorivila, Welikanda, Valachchenai and Manarathenna.

‘A CHOICE FOR A CHILD’, YPF’S FIRST DINNER THEATRE FUNDRAISER IS A SUCCESS

On the 29th of April, 2011, on its 5th birthday, the Youth Progressive Foundation was happy to host its first Dinner Theatre Fundraiser, at the Water’s Edge Grand Ballroom to raise funds for our activities in the coming year.

MORE COMPUTERS ARE DONATED TO THE CRC’S

MORE COMPUTERS ARE DONATED TO THE CRC’S The most popular subject at the Children’s Resource Centres (CRC) is Computer Education. Many children who cannot afford to study the subject at commercial institutions are given the opportunity to apply to study computer education at the CRCs.
 

ARUGAMBAY CHILDREN AT RELIGIOUS CAMPAIGN

A sil (righteous morality) campaign was held at the Samudragiri Temple organized by the Arugam Bay CRC. Majority of the children at the CRC participated in this campaign of virtue with sincere interest.
 

HAMBANTHOTA MOTHERS START LACE-MAKING

A lace making, designing and marketing training programme was held for mothers/widows and mature students at the Hambantota CRC from January to March, 2011.
 

YOUTH PROGRESSIVE FRONT ACHIEVES HIGHER PRODUCTIVITY THROUGH RAPID DEVELOPMENT MANAGEMENT

During the past few years the Youth Progressive Front was concentrating on expansion of its services and providing optimum services to the public but internal management and the human resources contribution was limited.
 

A LITERARY ASSOCIATION AND STREET DRAMA GROUP IS FORMED AT THE ULLA CHILDREN’S RESOURCE CENTRE

The children receiving knowledge, skills and education at the Ulla Children’s Resource Centre, are members of very poor families living with minimal facilities. They have inherited poverty at birth, discarded by society, not able to recognize their true potential.

TRAINING AND INSTRUCTIONS FOR RIGHTEOUS WAY OF LIFE

A specialized resource person arrived from Malaysia to conduct special training programme on mental health for the children of CRC and to train the CRS teaching staff.
 

LAUNCHING OUR SERVICES ON NORTH EAST REHABILITATION

Degree of resources we have lost due to 30 year long internal conflict is incalculable. The biggest lost is the loss of human resources that could be used for the development of the country.
 

More facilities for the Eravur CIC Centre through CAP chivalry

To date the CAP institution based in Hong Kong has provided priceless support for the future development and progress of the children sheltered by CIC centres. CAP is a strong humane gathering people in Hong Kong focused on betterment of the needy people the world over. They have assured total sponsorship for the future development of the destitute children sheltered by the Eravur and Arugam Bay CIC centres in the Easter Province of Sri Lanka.

A HISTORIC DEED OF MERIT

We, of the Youth Progressive Foundation, are happy to put in record most benevolently that we were able accomplish a deed of merit after centuries by conveying a holy sprout of the Sri Maha Bodhi, Anuradhapura to Kataragama.
 

FREE SERVICE CAMP TO ERADICATE DENGUE

The children of the Eravur CRC held a campaign at the school premises to eradicate dengue. Children, with the help of elders, also cleared the surrounding environment and exhibited posters with methods of controlling the dengue menace.
 

QUIZZ NIGHT

A general knowledge quiz was held at the Arugam Bay CRC for the children. The competition involved two teams of 20 children each. Teams were led by K. M. Sashini and Amaya Muthumala.
 

The Disaster Management Unit...now in action!

Expanding its services, The YPF established an operational unit attached to a fully fledged disaster management centre established in the district of Matara on the 20th of March 2010. The centre is equipped with boats and other equipment required for disaster management in the Matara district.
 

The newest CRC centre opens in Kataragama

Our brand new centre opened in Kataragama on the 14th of February 2010. The centre is located in the district of Moneragala and currently oversees 85 children.
 

Everyone has talent in the ‘Ranga Soba Rangamadala’

The ‘Ranga Soba Rangamadala’ is an annual concert which gives the children of the CRC centres an opportunity to express their aesthetic skills and show off their artistic talents. Children were encouraged to sing, dance or act. 180 children from the Hambantota centre took part. Our audience was between 850 -1000 people who consisted of parents, relatives, friends and well wishers.
 

The Hambantota CRC centre moved to a nicer home...

From its initiation the CRC Centre was housed in properties taken on lease that were not adequate for the needs of our children. At last we have found a suitable place with an adequate playground for the education and sports development of our children.

The Eravur centre...our dreams came true!

The Eravur CRC centre was established in 2009, in the Batticaloa district, in order to serve children affected by the extensive civil war. Funded by ‘Creative Against Poverty’ (CAP) of Hong Kong, the centre provides desperately needed shelter and education to the children of Eravur.

Inauguration of the ‘Ranjan Gomez Arts Institute'
