Inaugurating of
‘Ranjan Gomez’
Arts Institute
The most popular subjects among the children of the
Hambanthota CRC Centre are Music and Dancing. The annual
‘Ranga Sobha’ variety entertainer concert portrays their
skills in these fields clearly. They were undergoing
difficulties due to lack of musical instruments and other
necessities required for dancing and music.
The Arts Institute was inaugurated with the savings from the
funds donated by Mr. Ranjan Gomez during the past two years
for maintaining the CRC Centre at Hambanthota. Mr. Gomez
has been responsible for uplifting educational and social
status of the underprivileged children in the district of
Hambanthora for several years. His donations for maintaining
the Hambanthota CRC centre has been carefully and prudently
managed by the CRC management and the savings were utilized
to purchase the equipment and instruments needed for the
Arts Institute.
In order to honour the huge social
services of Mr. Ranjan Gomez the institute has been named as
‘Ranjan
Gomez Arts Institute’.
Hambanthota CRC Centre moved to a new Home ..
From its initiation the CRC Centre has been housed
in properties taken on lease. The properties thus
leased were not adequate for proper education and
skills development of our children. We were eager to
have a place of our own for the past two years in
order to conduct appropriate educational and skills
development activities of the CRC children. Finally
we have found a place suitable for education of our
children consisting of an adequate playing area too.
Under the supervision of our chief advisor Mr.
Vijaya Malalasekera and director board member Mr.
Prashan Malalasekera we are doing the necessary
renovations in order to create the proper atmosphere
for the development of the children in our care. CRC
programmes in this new home will be started with the
participation of YFP Chief Executive Mr. Ashan
Malalasekera.

Kamburupitiya Divisional Secretariat. Funded by Sri
Lanka Centre for Development Facilitation (SLCDF)
